Wheel Arch Trim

There's a well known quotation; ' If it ain't broken then don't touch it'

After a weekend away, and having clipped the wheel arch trim on a low camp site pitch divider. I decided to repair and fill the broken part.

This is easily done by removing the 5 screws which retain the trim to the body work.Sketch of wheel trim

I was glad I found it necessary to do this job as stuck up inside the trim and the body securing timber was retained mud. Just the stuff to rot the body work.

For the DIY man this is an easy job to do and I recommend this maintenance.

Having taken the sides off. I then spread water based sealant on the body work timbers, and on the trim. As the sealant was squeezed out, when refitting the trim, remove the excess by dipping your finger in a water washing up solution and peel away. Before the re-fitting, I placed on the panels above the trim and on the trim edge, body work masking tape. This produced a nice clean line and eliminated the spread over which normally has to be cleaned off.
